Holiday Snaps From Berlin

Visited Berlin to speak at Hybrid Conf. Took my sister. Amazing city. One of my favourites, I think. Would love to go back. Bye.

Coffee and Cameras

And doughnuts.

Last weekend, Rab and I did a small coffee shop tour in Glasgow. We visited McCune Smith, Spitfire Espresso and Meadow Road (and Tantrum Doughnuts).

McCune Smith: I had a tasty coffee from the AeroPress, but the service was really slow.

Spitfire Espresso: Great sandwiches to compliment your coffee.

Meadow Road: Nice decor and interesting floor, which makes for a good photo backdrop.

Tantrum Doughnuts: Krispy Who? This is where to get your doughnut fix.

Straight Up Portrait

Spent some time with Rab today, a fellow photographer. It feels good to shoot a straight up portrait. It’s been a while since I’ve picked up my camera for just ‘me’. The aim of our day, however, was a tour of some of Glasgow’s indie coffee shops. Stay tuned for those photos…

Craft Beer With Honest Brew

I’m new to beer, certainly no connoisseur, yet I really enjoyed digging through Honest Brew‘s craft beer box (as did my friends). Our favourite of the evening was Beavertown’s Neck Oil.

Six beers, three friends and a lot of pizza. It was the perfect end to the weekend. So much so, I’m considering a subscription to Honest Brew for more social occasions like this.

Oh, and as someone who enjoys good design, I appreciated the branding on a lot of the bottles. Craft beer is pretty!

To get your first box for £9, enter ‘halfprice’ at checkout.

Cheers!

Coffee In Artisan Roast

I caught up with Rab, a talented Instagram photographer, over coffee in Artisan Roast. His coffee left a pretty pattern in the coffee cup. That’s the only excuse you need to take a photo.

Holiday Snaps From Florida

Okay, they are basically just baby photos! But it was my first time spending a solid week with my beautiful nephew, Blake.

This was my first sunshine holiday in 6 years. After my sister’s wedding on Saturday, my family flew out to Hudson in Florida. They are still there for another week, but I had to cut my trip short due to Indie (my dog) and some work I have booked in.

I used this holiday as an opportunity to relax, drink Bud Light Lime, swim and play with Blake. I feel suitably refreshed!

Puppies!

On Saturday I took a road trip to Dundee with Ayden. A 180 mile round trip to pick up Ayden’s new puppy, Bronson. Of course I had to take my camera.

Luna had just been collected by her new owner, leaving Olive, Max and Bronson (Ayden’s puppy). Max (the black puppy) is the runt of the litter. His back paws have fallen off to leave him with stumps, but he’s a beautiful pup and was walking about without any issue.

It was quite a challenge to visit a litter of French Bulldog puppies and leave empty handed. It’s safe to say I will now find any excuse to visit Ayden and Bronson!

Happy Birthday, Blake

I can’t believe it’s been a year since Blake, my nephew, was born. For his 1st birthday we took him to Edinburgh Zoo. He looked inquisitively at the animals, crying when they’d get too close. I love this little boy so much. 11 days until we go to Florida on a family holiday…

Gin From A Teapot

Shawshank (that’s my friend. It’s not her real name. Shawshank is from Uist and I was unable to pronounce her name. We gave her this nickname over a decade ago and it’s stuck) invited me to Cup Tea Garden to drink gin from a teapot. It complimented our afternoon tea perfectly.

Definitely a recommended visit if you like gin. Oh, and afterwards pop around the corner to The Spiritualist for more gin.

Stav and Hellen at Friars Carse Country House Hotel

Congratulations to Stav and Hellen, who married at Friars Carse in Dumfries. I’m a sucker for an outdoor ceremony, and these two made my job easy by, well, being so in love.
