Remembrance Day in Greenock

Waking up early on Sunday morning, I was met with an email from the editor of a Greenock news site asking if I’d cover one of the many remembrance ceremonies in Inverclyde. I just so happened to be down that way photographing a couple’s semi-new addition to the family¬†and all the times collided nicely, so I agreed to do a bit of documentary style shooting.

I arrived at the ceremony a minute late, and unbeknownst to me walked into the memorial with the announced “VIPs”. How embarrassing. Anyway, it seemed fitting to do these in black and white, and it’s been a while since I’ve done a batch black and white post on my blog.

Street Shots

Yeah, seems I’m itching to do street photography every weekend now. Saw lots of interesting characters today with it being the lead up to Christmas, which means Glasgow is swarming. This is good because it means people don’t notice the girl with the camera so much (which people¬†do, and they stare at you like you’re a fucking weirdo), even if Indie does draw attention to me by barking at pigeons. Anyway, for whatever reason I wasn’t on the ball with my shots today, so I came away a little disheartened.

Street Shots on Halloween Weekend

While shopping around for my Halloween costume (which is so far a secret, but I can reveal it is of course video game themed), I took my camera into town for some candid, street photography. I’ve been really digging street stuff lately; you never know what you’ll come away with or who you’ll see. Today I came across a parade of men dressed as penguins, as well as a group of kilted gentlemen.

The Jesus Dude

A bit of street photography for you. This man has an amplifier, a microphone, fliers and a mission to spend his days preaching to the passers by in Glasgow about faith, society and Jesus etc. Kudos to him for being passionate about it, but I don’t think people take so kindly to having beliefs thrust upon them. We can all figure out our faith, or lack of, on our own. Right?

Graphic Novels

Ever take a photo that you like, but you’re not sure you like it enough to share on Flickr or your blog? That’s how I feel about this one.

Sunday Street Shots

Some simple street shots I took today in Glasgow. Everybody was miserable; it seems the average British person’s mood hinges on how the weather is. Also, I wonder what video game the geek with the GAME bag was taking home.

Danny MacAskill in Glasgow

When I was walking Indie yesterday I just so happened to see a poster for Danny MacAskill performing nearby at Glasgow’s Riverside museum. Okay, I’m not going to pretend that I know who these cyclists are, but given the slump I’ve felt with photography recently, I made myself a promise to pop along and indulge in some crowd photography. Apparently these guys (The Clan) are Scotland’s number one stunt cycling team. I don’t care, there was a hot guy with tattoos and the sun was out. Yay.

Felix and Oscar

Felix and Oscar is one of many cute and quirky shops in the West End of Glasgow. I didn’t catch the name of the owner, but when he was chatting to my sister I took his picture. Oh, and I totally bought a cook book from this shop! (I can’t cook.)

Friends Outside ABC

Popped along to the ABC 2 last night to catch my friend’s band play. To be honest the lighting in the venue was shite. I mean ISO 12,800 kind of shite. Anyway, Johnny And The Bomb (my friend’s band) are playing next Thursday (18th of August) in Pivo Pivo if you fancy them. They’re getting good feedback but are brand new on the scene.
