YO! Sushi Is Back!

Yo! Sushi was a staple of Buchanan Street. I was a regular for takeaway and was disappointed when it closed some time back. Now it’s returned! This time setting up camp on West George Street in the old Pizza Hut building.

My friend, Laura, and I haven’t caught up in 6 months. We’ve been busy being adults. So we decided to have our mate date at Yo! Sushi, despite Laura expressing reservations about sushi. “I like the ones with vegetables and that’s it.”

The menu had all of my favourites—udon noodles, gyoza, tempura… Even Laura gave her meal a glowing review and was adventurous with trying new dishes.

We finished our meal by sharing dessert(s) and drinking matcha lattes.

10/10. Will be back.

Yo! Sushi

I had a really enjoyable lunch at Yo! Sushi the other day. As much as I like that place, I usually find it too busy and polluted with noise, but we seemed to find a reasonable time to eat (just after 1pm on a Monday). I think I’m borderline addicted to sushi, though there could be worse foods to crave I guess. Anyway, the format of Yo! Sushi suits my appetite; I like the small dishes you can choose as you please and pick at. I wasn’t overly impressed with the pancakes though. Oh, and the lighting is awful for photos!

More Sushi

I still consider myself a relative newcomer to sushi. Despite trying it for the first time in ’09, I was subjected solely to supermarket sushi due to Inverclyde’s lack of oriental restaurants. Now I’m living in Glasgow I have quite a lot of Japanese eateries at my disposal. Today Emma took me to OKO Express, an intimate canteen-style restaurant on Queen Street, Glasgow.

The sushi was real good, but I’ve had better noodles elsewhere.

Dinner at the Rotunda

My new place, which, I know, I haven’t stopped talking about, happens to be next door to a Japanese restaurant. I’ve only lived here two weeks yet I’ve become a regular. So much so that when I last went for dinner I was given freebie food, “especially for you”.
