Morgan

Morgan is joining us in Toad’s Caravan for a few months, and hopefully FOREVER if she gets a Visa (she’s American). Morgan has only been in Glasgow a few weeks, but joined us at Tribeca for my (early) birthday lunch. We are going out for drinks next week and I’m going to teach her all the Scottish words, like bawbag.

First Week Back

I enjoy the first week back at work after the holidays. January is always a busy month, and this year is no exception. I have a project with work to tie up, and the inaugural Glasgow Photo Walk will be kicking off mid-month. My first wedding of the year is this weekend. Based in a remote part of Scotland, I’m looking forward to the scenic drive and overnight stay in a hotel. I also have a birthday to celebrate, although I’m undecided how I want to celebrate it. I’ve recently got back into gaming, so part of me wants to celebrate with a PlayStation 4. Lastly, I’ve been increasing my training this month for a 10 miler in April. I’ve …

Mulled Wine At The Gannett

Seriously, what is happening to Finnieston? It’s become a hub of nice bars and places to eat. I am happy. Today Jo – Director at Toad’s Caravan (srs bsns woman) – and I tried The Gannett, which was boasting a particularly festive menu. We washed down our duck risotto with mulled wine, whilst propped on a bar stool at the window and watching handsome men walk past. Or as handsome as they get in Glasgow. *ducks*

Hamburger Jumper

Ally has a habit of wearing fast food jumpers. I’m already a fan of his chips jumper, and now I’ve arrived to the studio to find him in a hamburger jumper. What’s next? Bacon. I’m hoping bacon.

Lola

I think the coolest part of working from Toad’s Caravan is that it’s dog friendly. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve had a few dogs stop by to accompany Indie and Frank (the resident pups). One of these dogs was Lola, a friendly Boston Terrier who visited alongside her shyer Boston Terrier bro, Rueben. If you’re a creative freelancer in Glasgow and need a space to work from  – and like dogs – there’s a desk going spare at Toad’s Caravan.

Ben Susskind

This is Ben. He sits near me in Toad’s Caravan. He looks like the werewolf on his t-shirt. My biggest fear as a child was werewolves and I’d often have nightmares about them, but Ben doesn’t scare me.

Toad’s Caravan

After 8 years of working from home (and going crazy. If you meet me and my social skills are bad, you now know why), I’ve moved my work space into Toad’s Caravan; a creative collective tucked away in the heart of the West End on Ruthven Lane. There’s still available desk space if any of you freelancers in Glasgow are looking for a studio to work from alongside other creatives? Maybe we can be friends. Maybe we can fetch each other coffee. Maybe we can walk to work together. But you have to like my dog, because she comes to the studio with me every day.
