Fingal Floating Hotel

As always it was a pleasure to photograph my sister’s new line of dresses. We did this shoot on Fingal, which is a luxury floating hotel in Edinburgh. I’d love to stay overnight at some point. P.S. For the photos with weird effects I just used a tumbler and held it in front of my lens.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! I spent Christmas in Edinburgh with my family this year. On Christmas Eve we went to The Paper Mill for dinner. The food and atmosphere was lovely, but we all agreed the service wasn’t great. This was the first Christmas my nephew has understood Santa and presents, so there was a lot of excitement on Christmas Day. I got an Amazon Echo, but these days I am enjoying giving presents more than receiving them.

Day Out In Edinburgh

Ayden and I visited Edinburgh for a few hours and hit up Mary’s Milk Bar. I’ve heard a lot about this place and usually there’s a queue out of the door. Apparently, they make their own ice cream daily. With it being October, however, I opted for a ‘hot chocolate float’. The topping was mint choc chip. A very fattening day out!

Bread Street Brasserie

Carolyn and I love food. We also love a good deal. Luckily 5pm had our back with their festival dining deal during the Edinburgh Fringe. We had a 3-course meal at Bread Street Brasserie with a glass of bubbly on arrival, 2 glasses of wine and coffee for £40.

5pm is running a lot of deals during the Edinburgh Fringe, so be sure to check them out. We left very happy and very full!

Sunday in Stockbridge, Edinburgh

Sunday saw Kaitlin, Rab and I head to Stockbridge in Edinburgh. Stockbridge is fairly central yet feels like its own village. I’d love to live here, but property prices are sky high.

There’s a market that—even on a grey Sunday—was bustling with people and dogs. I had Steampunk coffee and drooled over the gyoza.

Afterwards we walked up Calton Hill. Despite being in Edinburgh a lot, I’ve never explored Calton Hill. It’s a hotspot for tourists because you have a view of the city.

10/10, would Edinburgh again.

South Queensferry

Having visited South Queensferry in July, I vowed I’d return with my camera. Brittany and I enjoyed a burger at Orocco Pier, followed by a stroll around the quaint town centre. At 28, it was my first taste of a vegetarian burger (definitely no substitute for beef, but I’m trying to eat less of that).

All in all, a fabulous day before I throw myself into a busy week of work.

Baby Blake

Once a week I will drive through to Edinburgh to spend the day with my nephew, Blake. Yesterday we visited Craigmillar Castle, Blake’s first history trip! Doesn’t he look happy?

Casa Morada

“Casa Morada is the culmination of a personal and professional dream of Eva Serrano, a Spanish Interior Designer based in Edinburgh, Scotland…” Eva gave us free roam of her beautiful interiors shop last month, the perfect location to photograph my sister’s dresses. I am noticing many more flaws with my photos these days, which is a good thing, although I wish I could catch these flaws before it comes to looking at my photos on a big screen. This is all part of learning process, I guess. Regardless, beautiful models, stunning location and glamorous dresses.

Carolyn Baxter Dresses

Following on from my last post, I have finally finished editing the photos from the shoot at No.12 Picardy Place. Danielle is flawless to photograph, but I think the entire team who contributed to this shoot is due credit (MAU = Suzanne Craig, hair = Christina Frampton, dress design = Carolyn Baxter).

With the new year approaching, I have been thinking a lot about photography and how I feel about it. Every year I am picking up my camera less. I’ve become quite lazy. Lazy with how often I shoot and lazy with how I shoot. This needs to change.

Danielle at No.12 Picardy Place

Last weekend, I ventured through to Edinburgh’s boutique hotel, No.12 Picardy Place, to shoot a few dresses from my sister’s new line. My sister works harder than anyone I know, I don’t know where she finds the time to design and launch new dresses. As always, I’m very proud of her and the work she does.

More photos to follow, but I’m super busy with my big girl’s job.
