Another Year, Another Industry Conf

This time last year I was a nervous wreck. I had taken to the stage in Newcastle for my first public speaking gig. I’m back at Industry for another year, but not as a speaker – instead enjoying the conference from an attendee’s perspective.

I particularly enjoyed Greg Hoy‘s talk, ‘Work Is The Magic Bullet’, which centred around work ethic (funny timing as work ethic has been a topic playing heavily on my mind as of late), and Paull Young, who talked about inspiring people with beautiful design and stories through the charity he works with, charity: water. So good! Thanks for another great year, Gavin.

P.S. It is a bit of a tradition I photograph Jack …

Industry Conf

First of all, huuge thank you to Gavin for organising Industry, but for also having enough faith to put Miss Baxter (that’s me) on stage. A first time speaker talking about the insurance industry (paraphrased from James’ blog post), what could go wrong? I had a wonderful time at Industry; a more intimate conference with a varied selection of speakers (though, coincidentally, a few crossovers in themes throughout most of the talks).

I took something away from each of the speakers, ate delicious food, made new friends, had the tastiest coffee of my life, and generally felt pretty grateful all round. But the build-up to my first speaking gig was so horrid, I can’t imagine doing another! Gavin, on the other hand, should continue to organise conferences – he does such a great job. *hint, hint*
