Sam Brown

After a year since I last saw him, I finally got to catch up with Sam last week. Sam plays video games (although not as much as he should), is a UI designer developer, and gets to travel to New York for work. We took some photos in a rainy Glasgow, and I introduced him to one of my favourite coffee shops, The Hidden Lane Tearoom. By the time we had finished our coffee, the sun was out and I shot right into it with the tiltshift lens. It produced some psychedelic results.

Wonky Nature

A bitter afternoon in the West End of Glasgow, after a cheeky lunch at Tribeca and some street photography (which I’ll get to posting later, after the Frank Turner gig or possibly tomorrow). My camera and sunsets, I could not live without you.

Gary’s Face

Hah, Gary wanted to do some close-up head shots on Friday night. We actually did a few of me as well, but it was so weird seeing my face straight on, no expression, flaws emphasised (didn’t help it was shot with L series glass, huh?).

Bax-Street Blog: Street Style

We’re back with the next entry in our Bax Street Blog, where we stop people in the street with an interesting style and take a picture. We took to the West End of Glasgow this time, which, ultimately, wasn’t the greatest idea I’ve ever had with how quiet it was on a Tuesday lunchtime. Still, I’m always so surprised by how friendly some of the girls we stop are, even if they decline to have their picture taken.

Over the next few weeks we will be taking to Edinburgh and seeing what the fashion is like there.

Felix and Oscar

Felix and Oscar is one of many cute and quirky shops in the West End of Glasgow. I didn’t catch the name of the owner, but when he was chatting to my sister I took his picture. Oh, and I totally bought a cook book from this shop! (I can’t cook.)

Bax-Street Blog: Street Style

My sister and I have been wanting to collaborate on something for a while, marrying my love of photography with Carolyn’s eye for fashion. This is the first in our street style blog, which we’ve named Bax-Street Blog (our surname is Baxter, how witty are we?). We’ll be mainly taking to the streets of Glasgow where we’ll photograph some of the styles that capture our attention.

Glasgow is a stylish city, but the difference in fashion from the City Centre and West End is palpable. Our first outing saw us on one of Glasgow’s busiest streets for shopping, Buchanan Street, right in the heart of the city. Tomorrow we’ll be spending an hour or so in the West End of Glasgow. Feedback appreciated!

Theo!

I think this is the cutest little guy I’ve ever met. Even when he was tired after a long day and had a grumpy phase… still cute! The best part of photographing kids is that they don’t ham it up for the camera in the same way adults do. We’re self conscious; aware of how our hair looks or if we’re showing our good side. So yeah, this really satisfied my love of candid shooting, and I can totally see myself volunteering to babysit in the future o_O

It’s all about the roast…

I can’t remember the last time I had a Sunday roast. It was very likely when I lived with my parents, which was a good 7 years ago. I’m not sure what brought the notion on but I just had to have one today! So a trip to Big Slope with Ryan was in order, followed by hot chocolate at Eati Boutiquie. I had been meaning to stop by there before; a “delicatessen and vintage boutique”, which doesn’t seem to be such a rare thing in Glasgow.

My family is also visiting this evening as they’re off to some big do in Glasgow (I wasn’t invited, but I’d rather stay home and play Dragon Age II as I’ve just worked 6 of the last 7 days). Naturally, I took photos of them in their dresses. My sister made the one she’s wearing in the picture.

Man, it felt good to whore my camera today. I love how something so simple makes me so happy.

It’s Gary O’Hagan

Gary came and visited me in my new pad. He plays for Red Hot Chilli Pipers. They tour all over the world, so if they’re near you then check them out.
